General Service vs Chemical Wash vs Chemical Overhaul: Which Does Your Aircon Need?
Not sure which aircon service to book? We explain the difference between a general service, chemical wash and chemical overhaul – with Singapore prices.
By SPMM Group ·
The three most common aircon services in Singapore sound similar, but they clean very different depths of your unit. Booking the right one saves money and fixes the actual problem.
1. General service – routine cleaning
What we do: wash the filters, clean the coil and blower, flush the drainage pipe and check the cooling performance.
Best for: regular maintenance every 3 months when the aircon is working normally.
Price: 1 unit $30 (+$25 transport), 2 units $60, 3 units $70, 4 units $80.
2. Chemical wash – deep clean without full dismantling
What we do: the fan coil is partly dismantled and the coil and blower are washed with a chemical solution that breaks down mould, slime and grease that water alone cannot remove.
Best for: weak cooling, bad smells, or units that have not been serviced for a long time.
Price: $70 per unit – 2 units $140, 3 units $210, 4 units $280.
3. Chemical overhaul – the most thorough clean
What we do: the fan coil is completely dismantled and every part – coil, blower wheel, drain pan, casing – is soaked and washed in chemical solution, then reassembled and tested.
Best for: heavily clogged units, persistent water leaks, very noisy blowers, or units that still perform badly after a chemical wash.
Price: 1 unit $100, 2 units $200, 3 units $270, 4 units $360.
Quick guide
- Working fine, last service under 6 months ago → general service.
- Not as cold as before, slight smell → chemical wash.
- Leaking water, black spots on the blower, loud noise → chemical overhaul.
Still not sure? Book a general service and our technician will inspect the unit and tell you honestly if it needs more. See all prices or book online.
